A feature of the activity within the direction will be conducting research on the rights of doctors and patients, providing analytical support for the necessary organizational and structural changes in various areas of the health care system. This is a fundamental difference from other organizations, which focus mainly on the financial aspects of the health care system functioning


The CPLR expands its scope of activities by launching a new direction "Medical Law and Healthcare Reforms". Unlike some other organizations focusing mainly on the financial aspects of the functioning of the health care system, the peculiarity of its activities will be research on the rights of doctors and patients, analytical provision of the necessary organizational and structural changes in various areas of the health care system.

The priority areas of the activity are the following:

• the establishment of a system of provision of feather health care, especially in rural areas, strengthening the role of compulsory health insurance (CHI) in the process of decentralization in the healthcare sector

• introduction of professional self-government in health care, first of all, as a pilot project, self-management of dentists

• problems of reforming medical education and staffing of the health care system.

Zoryana Chernenko is the head of the direction, as also Associate Professor and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law, School of Public Health and School of Social Work at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Doctor of Legal Sciences (Republic of Poland), a member of the World Medical Association, a consultant of international organizations and projects, co-author of a number of bills on the functioning of health care in Ukraine.
