“Ukrainians have made a civilizational choice to be in the EU. Currently, Ukraine is actively working on preparing for the accession negotiations, but there is still an important issue of actualizing the public administration reform, which is one of the most important on Ukraine’s path to the EU. The implementation of this reform directly affects the efficiency and dynamics of the negotiation process,” said the coordinator of the European Integration Department of the CPLR at the Warsaw East European Conference.
Viktoriia Melnyk, Coordinator of the European Integration Department of the CPLR, took part in the discussion “The Future of Ukraine: Sustainability, Internal Stability, European Integration” at the Warsaw East European Conference.
The panel discussion with Victoria Melnyk was organized in partnership with the Meroshevsky Center and moderated by Ernest Wiciszkiewicz, Director of the Meroshevsky Center.
The discussion was also attended by Yulia Soldatyuk-Westerveld (Research Fellow at the Clingendael Institute, The Hague), Mykola Riabchuk (Visiting Professor at the Center for East European Studies, University of Warsaw), Andreas Umland (Research Fellow at the Stockholm Center for East European Studies) and Łukasz Adamski (Deputy Director of the Meroszewski Center).
The discussion touched upon the most pressing issues of Ukraine’s future, including strengthening defense capabilities against Russian aggression, the role of NATO and international support, strategies to combat disinformation and cyberattacks, political reforms, fighting corruption, private sector development, and Ukraine’s European integration progress.
The Warsaw East European Conference truly provided a platform for in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities facing Ukraine and the West in the ongoing war with Russia. The conference, organized by Studium Europy Wschodniej UW, brought together eleven expert panels and four academic sessions on geopolitical, economic and cultural aspects.
