International roundtable “The Constitutional Principles of Legislative Activities in Ukraine”
On June 27, 2018 the International roundtable “The Constitutional Principles of Legislative Activities in Ukraine” will be held at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The event is organized by USAID RADA Program, Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, the Centre of Policy and Legal Reform, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) with the EU support
On June 27, 2018 the International roundtable “The Constitutional Principles of Legislative Activities in Ukraine” will be held at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The event is organized by USAID RADA Program, Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, the Centre of Policy and Legal Reform, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) with the EU support.
The discussion is expected to: focus on the key challenges to implementation of the Ukrainian Parliament’s legislative, constitutive and supervisory functions in the context of the constitutional conditions for its activities, for the purpose of developing further recommendations to ensure sustainable functioning of the system of checks and balances based on principles of interaction and interdependence of the branches of government as well as on systematic and effective governance.
The roundtable will discuss the following issues:
- The Parliament’s role in the formation of the Government;
- The role of extra-parliamentary institutions in the legislative process;
- Parliamentary oversight of the Executive.
The event will take place on June 27, 2018, at the conference hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (5, Hrushevskoho St., Kyiv).
